Burglary prevention tools launched as part of campaign

A RANGE of initiatives are being launched to help people protect their homes from burglars.

Cambridgeshire Constabulary is launching the suite of new tools during April as part of its award winning Get Closer campaign.

No-one wants to come home to find their home broken into, their personal possessions have been rifled through and their most treasured mementoes stolen. With more than 2,000 reports of burglary each year, the campaign aims to raise awareness of the importance of minimising the temptation for burglars to target their home and provide residents with a number of useful tools and information about what they can do to improve their home security.

Burglary prevention lead, Detective Inspector Dan Pawson said: “Lack of security is still one of the top reasons why homes are targeted by burglars, which is why we have recognised the importance of investing in prevention measures. Good, high quality security doesn’t have to cost a fortune but can make a big difference.

“The impact of burglary, particularly for repeat victims can be incredibly traumatic, so much so that they end up having to move home.”

The campaign will be supported and promoted by a series of tweets and Facebook posts sent via CambsCops and local policing pages.
